BOOOO!!! July 28, 2010 baskety mom (Louisiana) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I thought Melissa & Doug products were supposed to be high quality but we didn't have this more than a couple months before the side came off (crappy glue job) and the hammer had pieces of wood chipping off. I don't understand why didn't they use a hard, durable wood for the hammer ~ it seems like common sense to me. I sanded it down but the wood is soft and still has little chips coming off and the side has come off again and is lost now. I was hoping it would last through a couple kids. I definitely would NOT recommend it to anyone. BOOOO!!!
good, basic toy for my "bulldozer" boy July 26, 2010 Hannah's Mommy (Nashville, TN) We received this as a gift for my son's first birthday or the Christmas following. He still loves it. I have had no quality problems, the mallet has stayed together, as have the sides of the table, and he abuses it (I've caught him using it as a step stool once or twice). The mallet tends to get lost, as do pegs, but we eventually find them again. I need to start using it to teach him colors now that he is talking. And counting. He'll be two in a month, and shows no signs of tiring of it. Sometimes he takes a break and doesn't play with it for a few weeks, but he always ends up going back to it.
great toy but..... June 4, 2010 Ashley Mills (Weisbaden, Germany) my daughter loves this toy! she spends hours playing with it just putting the pegs in then taking them out. BUT, one of the sides broke off the day after i got it. it was an easy fix with some wood glue, but it was inconvenient. also, it is made of softer wood which shows every tap that has been made on it. i've only had it for 2 weeks and it is covered in indentations from both the mallet and the pegs.
Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Pound-A-Peg April 18, 2010 Lois L Hauenstein (NY) Our grand son loves playing with this. He says his colors and enjoys banging the pegs out and putting them back in.
Throw it away - recalled in Canada April 9, 2010 JudiAU (Los Angeles) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son enjoyed playing with this and yes, sucking on the pegs. But my daughter won't be because I read that this was recalled in Canada for toxic levels of chemicals. M&D didn't bother to recall it here because the American market is full of suckers who accept lax toy standards. I'll be replacing it with a toy that is NOT MADE IN CHINA and NOT MADE BY M&D.
