Fridge Words Magnetic Word Builder June 28, 2010 Jill P. Jones (Opelika, AL) This is a great idea to teach children how to spell and pronounce three letter words. It is definitely worth purchasing; however, there are some common three letter words it doesn't recognize which is disappointing. And even though the letter "Q" is included, there doesn't seem to be any words included. I would definitely recommend it, though.
LeapFrogged...They don't back up their products June 23, 2010 Jolene Priest (Cheboygan, MI) I purchased a LeapFrog Fridge Words Magnetic Word Builder in November 2009 for my daughter's Christmas present. She was two at the time. She opened it at Christmas, but it was a little advanced for her so she didn't start playing with it until a few months ago. She already knows her letters and is now learning to build words. However, the item doesn't work right. It says many of the wrong letters when she puts them in the slots. For example, it says "V" when she puts in a "W" and so on. I've contacted LeapFrog customer service many times over the last month. They've given me lists of things to do to try to make it work right, none of which have worked. They've also told me many times that since it's past warranty, there's nothing they can do about it. I purchased it 7 months ago. So, now I have a new product that doesn't work correctly and I have to just throw it away. Leapfrog won't replace it, which is what I wanted, and they won't give me my money back. They said that since it's past warranty, there's nothing they can do. Their customer service is very poor, and I warn anyone considering the purchase of this product or any LeapFrog product to proceed with caution. If they do have issues with it, LeapFrog will not back up its product. Here's their last email response: "Regrettably, we do not have a department that handles repairs. Instead we send out a working unit. This is only possible if the item is still under warranty. Since your unit is way past the warranty period, we regret to inform you that a replacement can no longer be offered." This tells you that its warranty period is very short as well. Again, be cautious when purchasing this product.
Great early literacy toy! May 12, 2010 Shelly K. (Cleveland, OH) We purchased this to help get our child interested in words and learning letter sounds. At first he didn't play with it very much. Now he will try and complete words on his own. Re-enforces letter sounds and letter combinations.
Be careful if looking to add to older version April 3, 2010 bdbear 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently received an older version of this from a relative, but not all the letters were included. I found out at Leap Frog's site that they are no longer selling replacement letters, so if you want to fill out your child's letter collection, you have to buy a whole new toy. I thought it would be nice to upgrade to this one since I have the upper case letters and this has the lower case. But the size of the letters is different than they used to be. They are smaller, and don't fit in the older toys the same way. I feel like I just wasted $25!
One of the best educational toys i ever bought March 25, 2010 Antoinette Mangum I really like this item. I am a very concerned parent when it comes to my childs education. I bought it for my son as a birthday gift and he immediatly wanted to play with it. Its a good chioice if your a parent looking to not only seek a good education within the schools but at home as well.
