Amazon.com Product Description Make your youngster's learning experience more upbeat with the LeapFrog Learn and Groove Alphabet Drum alphabet drum. Each tap of this drum introduces baby to the alphabet and improves vocabulary in both English and Spanish. Engaging music and interactive play sharpen motor skills as baby learns to tap, crawl, and dance. It features three delightful learning modes, including Alphabet, Dance Along, and Music Play. Babies quickly catch on to cause and effect, as each tap rewards them with lights, letters, and music. Music Play mode lets the child freely explore music, fostering open-ended play and creative movement. And this drum's lively, roll-along song teaches them to crawl after the drum. Ideal for children ages six months to three years, this stimulating toy entertains and educates for hours. The Beat Goes On The Alphabet Drum is built to withstand the throws and whacks from typical toddler handling. Parents will appreciate the volume control as it keeps the music at an enjoyable level. To prolong battery life, the drum shuts off if it hasn't been used for awhile. Plus, at approximately 8 inches tall, it helps babies learn to sit up on their own. Both the English and Spanish voices of the Alphabet Drum are audible and easy to understand. Bright colors, uplifting music, and a fun design make this a favorite in any child's toy box. Award-Winning Features It is no surprise that the LeapFrog Alphabet Drum was a winner of the 2006 iParenting Media Greatest Products Award. This drum teaches language, music, and motor skills as a strong foundation for the child's future. Love this drum February 26, 2010 Heather M. Bishop I did not buy it off of amazon, but i was searching on amazon for an price on it. My son loves the drum and he loves the light and sounds it has. It does seem very durable. The only thing I do not like about is it does not do the numbers only the abc's, but overall I would recommened this toy to anyone. I even love the drum.
Alphabet Drum Makes Terrible Sounds February 1, 2010 I thought anything made by Leapfrog would be a safe bet. But this drum is awful. The sounds it makes are really annoying. My mistake -- I usually avoid toys that make "artificial" sounds. A real drum would have been a much better purchase.
Don't waste your money January 26, 2010 W. Centala (Kentwood, MI) I always research most items before I decide to purchase, and found this drum to have a good rating here before I bought this drum for my 1yr old daughter for Christmas. I found out that this toy is really very low-budget and not at all on pace with the quality of learning toys on the market these days. The bad: Top of drum has a very cheesy display of letters and pictures. The batteries were dead on arrival. The drum hardly does anything, and barely holds my daughter's interest for more than a minute or so. The good: This does seem to be a tough toy that can take many drops. That is all that is good. I was so sad because I was at Goodwill and they had not just one, but TWO of these drums on their toy shelf for 99 cents a piece. Definitely a rip off to buy at full price. There are so many other great learning toys out there, don't bother with this one.
Leap Frog alphabet drum January 9, 2010 Joyce (Georgia) I believe this toy is great, only probelm I think it is better for a younger child. My grandson is 17 months old and he just can,t sit still long enough to sit and play, however he does like the portion that plays the music. I would recommend it for a younger tot who has not yet started walking.
Volume too low January 5, 2010 A. Butt Considering that this is a 'drum' and that kids are expected to 'bang' it, you'd think the volume would at least me loud enough so that you could hear it. But that is not the case with this. I bought this item for my 1.5 year old and he never learnt anything (alphabet etc) because the volume was never loud enough to attract his attention. It is a very frustrating product because the only way to enjoy it is by hitting the drum softly...which kinda defeats the purpose.
