OK, but overshadowed by Melissa and Doug picnic basket April 22, 2010 Lillith (USA) I'm not sure why I bought this as well as the Melissa and Doug picnic basket toy, but it's of much less interest to my baby, because the sandwich which she so adores dismantling in that picnic basket has no equivalent in this toy, and that frustrates her - the cabbage can't be dismantled etc. She does like the musical chiming...radish/carrot (not sure which it is!), and occasionally looks at other pieces, but in general it's just less interesting to her. I'm thinking of giving it away. Consider the picnic basket instead. It also has an advantage over this toy because its parts are machine washable, and the parts of this toy are not. By the way, the criticisms I've read of M and D toys recently only seem to apply to their wooden toys (paint flaking etc) not these plush toys. (I have no commercial affiliation with M and D)
Love this! April 19, 2010 Tara Peterson (Washington, DC) My 2o month old daughter loves these! She will load and unload the little bag over and over again for almost 20 mintues. It helped her learn the word apple and well as nana (banana). Since she started playing with this, she also started to peel her own real banana if I let her. All the pieces are really soft and all the sounds from each fruit/veggie keeps kids occupied.
My 8 month old likes this! That's all that matters! April 19, 2010 Laura Wilkins My 8 month old likes to shake the milk carton and chew on the crinkly banana. Since he likes soft toys made from this type of fabric, I knew he would enjoy his bag of fruits and veggies :-)
Excellent compact toy set April 6, 2010 N. Benecke (Worcester, MA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We bought this as a half-birthday present for my six month old son. We live in a small house and don't have a whole lot of room for a ton of toys, so when we shop for him, we make an effort to find toys that will keep him busy for a long time without taking up too much space. This set definitely fits the bill. It's small enough that I often carry it around in my backpack when we're out and about during the day. For him, it's really six toys in one-- he'll play with each of the foods individually, then play with the bag. The foods themselves have a lot of play potential. My son is still at the stage where he mostly likes to chew on them, crinkle the crinkly bits, and whack things with the foods. But as he gets older, I expect he'll start exploring the objects a little more, starting to find things like the mirror in the milk container, the way the banana peels, etc. The only thing I _don't_ like about the set: the material that covers the apple is a sort of nylon, and as my little guy chews on it, it's starting to look distinctly fuzzy. Still seems safe, but I'm surprised how worn it looks after relatively little play. (This is not a problem with the other foods, though, which all still look great.) Overall, I'd definitely recommend it for a 6 month old, and I think a 1 year old would still have fun with it as well.
5 Month Old Loves February 25, 2010 J. Hart (New Jersey) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My daughter loves this toy, especially the lettuce for some reason. She drools on the tools constantly and I have washed several times and comes out like brand new.
