Clever, helpful product! July 19, 2010 M. Person I've been using the Good Nite Lite in my daughter's room for a year now, ever since we transitioned her to a toddler bed from her crib. I couldn't be happier with this product. I love that it's fully programmable (timer sets in 15-minute increments) for when the "moon" should turn on at night (shines as a blue orb) and when the "sun" should turn on in the morning (glows a bright yellow). I appreciate that it doesn't make any noise, like an alarm does, so it doesn't wake my daughter if she sleeps past the time I've set. We live in Seattle, and in the summer the sun rises well before 5:00am and doesn't set until 10:00pm, but in the winter we sometimes go days without seeing the sun at all, so I appreciate the continuity of the Good Nite Lite's timer. When I tuck her in bed at night I can tell her, "I'll see you when the sun comes up," and she knows to stay in bed until the "sun" glows on her light. If she wakes up too early, she stays in her room and looks at books, and sometimes even falls back asleep. Occasionally I set the morning timer for 30 minutes later on weekends so my husband and I can get some more sleep. We've also taken it on vacation, which is especially helpful when we change time zones.
A Big Nightime Helper! July 16, 2010 S. Gibson (USA) I bought this light for my daughter who was having terrible sleep issues. She had multiple night wakings as well as waking up at 5am and she just didn't seem to understand when she was supposed to be asleep. The Good Nite Lite initially taught her what she was to do when the Lite was either blue or orange/yellow. At first, she still woke up during the night which we later discovered was due to her intolerance to artificial food dyes. Now, the clock has become essential in her sleep. She knows that when she sees the blue moon, it is sleep time. When she sees the orange/yellow sun she knows it is time to get up. It's has really been helpful in teaching her this principal and i hope that it'll make time telling easier down the road. The Lite itself is simple to set and I like that you can modify the sleep and awake times to whatever you'd like them to be. The moon stays on for the duration of the sleep time while the sun only stays lit for a few hours after the wake time. The light produced at night is just bright enough to see a child when checking on them, yet not so bright as to interfere with sleep. The only caveat to this is there is no plug cord; it has to be set up right at the outlet. I had to run a small extension cord from behind her dresser to above her dresser to make it work for us.
GoodNite Lite keeps our little one in bed June 7, 2010 Rochelle (Minnesota) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this light to aide the transition from crib to bed. My 2 year old daughter was so excited about the moon/sun changes that not only was she willing to stay in her bed until the sun came on, she also gets excited about going to bed when the moon is on at night. And, it is helpful when we travel as well. I thought the night light was a little expensive but have no regrets about purchasing it.
Works as a night light, not much else. Broke after several months. May 22, 2010 T. Phi (San Francisco, CA USA) What a wonderful concept - moonlight for sleeptime. sunlight for wakeup time. Seems easy but our child never really caught on and perhaps she could have except, after about 12 months the lights burned out on half of the product (exactly half, the entire right side). We stopped using it after that. Not worth the price. It was essentially a very expensive, yet novel, nightlight for us.
Yes, it really does work May 13, 2010 Rose Bratton (Houston, TX) My 3-year old is stubborn - it took a couple of weeks for this to catch on with her. But after 6 months of twice-nightly wakings, she has finally learned to check the light herself and go back to sleep if the "moon" is shining. If she wakes a few minutes early, she will stay in bed, waiting for the "sun" to come up. Not only has it restored our sleep patterns to normal, she likes the shining, happy face. It is certainly very expensive for a nightlight, and I wouldn't have paid much more for it, but it has worked for us, so I'll recommend it.
