Great for the little violinist! August 19, 2010 N. Barra (Wisconsin) I bought this for my 3yr old and she loves it. The only annoying thing is she doesn't want the violin to be prompted to play the next part of the song in relation to her moving the bow. Too bad there isn't an option to just let her go back and forth with the bow and the song keep playing like most other toy violins. Still gets 4 stars in my book!
Three year old and Mom both happy with toy violin July 18, 2010 Sharron E. Cassavant (Easton, MD) I purchased the iPlay Strike-A-Chord Violin for my granddaughter's third birthday. It has been a hit. She plays with the toy often, and her mother says she even plays it herself occasionally. Highly recommended for a young child who seems musically inclined. iPlay Strike-A-Chord Violin
FUN February 6, 2010 Twin Librarian (Texas) My children love this violin. They try to hold it like a cello more than a violin but they get such a kick from making music with it. Don't be confused--your kids are not going to learn how to play violin from this. But, they will have fun playing with it.
Made well, difficult to play even for an adult February 4, 2010 J. Phan (ABQ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While this violin is of excellent quality, my three year old has difficult getting the instrument to make sound. I find it difficult myself, also. The violin has a rubber piece (the green square in the center of the instrument) that you move back and fourth using friction from the plastic bow. The plastic/rubber combination sometimes does not create enough friction to make the music play. If the violin has no input from the bow for a second or two it continues the tune automatically. This can get frustrating. I wish it gave you more time before it switched over to automatic. Age wise, just turning three seems a little young to me for this toy, because of coordination issues. I'm not sure if the toy would hold the attention of kids much older due to the fact that the instrument doesn't generate any sound, it only plays pre-recorded sounds. Bottom line, I don't hate it but my daughter doesn't use it very often either. She likes her toy guitar with real strings and real sound much better.
Good product to introduce string instruments December 16, 2009 Jonathen Bingham 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son received this from his grandparents last year - he was ecstatic... as with many products, the excitement did wear off, but unlike most he keeps rediscovering it every other month or so. He is excited to get to play and puts on "concerts" for us. The only real disadvantage to this toy is its a little awkward for him to coordinate the bow while holding the body, but considering he is just 3, I would be shocked if it was easy for him. Great product!
