Wonderful! September 2, 2010 Diane S. (Cleveland, OH) All 3 of us play with this toy. I have no musical ability or know any songs, yet I can still produce pleasant sounds from this xylophone. It sounds like well-tuned chimes, even if you just hit it randomly.
Hohner Glockenspiel...Just Plain Cute! August 21, 2010 S. Rose (Tampa, Florida) My girls were delighted to receive this glockenspiel. It is lightweight enough for my 1 1/2 year- old to carry around; I love that she is able to easily take it off the shelf and play with it unassisted. The handle on the glockenspiel fits her little hands perfectly. Another feature is that there is a built-in slot (underneath) where children can store the mallet. Highly recommend this product; Hohner is a great line of instruments. We already own the high cage bells, 16" rainmaker, and are looking to expand our musical collection.
Good quality xylophone June 27, 2010 PlainSusan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this xylophone for our 1-year-old granddaughter, who enjoys banging on different objects to hear the noise each of them makes. I looked locally, but all I could find were xylophones for older children. She loves it. But, better yet, the tone is so clear, it makes an enjoyable sound when played and is easy on the ears. Since she has only had it a short while, I can only guess as to its long-term durability, although it seems quite sturdy.
Teach Your Baby Music With This Glockenspiel! June 21, 2010 M. Mac 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We bought this for our 8-mo old baby and she absolutely lights up whenever we get it out. She figured out quite quickly how to hold the mallet and bangs on the notes to make sounds. It's wonderful that it has a full octave that is musically correct. You can play lots of different songs to demonstrate for your baby--Mary Had a Little Lamb, Twinkle Little Star, Frere Jacques, Do re me, etc., and it comes with a few songs to play, too. Very durable--we had a 3-year-old over who was very hard on it, and it stood up to his ambitious banging! The mallet also attaches to the back so you won't lose it. Generally, just a wonderful introduction to music!
fun and sturdy May 4, 2010 Boston Mom We got this for our ten month old who loves musical instruments. She really got excited by the colors and the sounds. While she can't really use the mallet (she doesn't have enough control to play with it, but she does love chewing on it, which we try to discourage), she has banged on it with her fists and liked the effect. In other instances, we play it with her. The instrument seems quite durable, as she has banged it repeatedly against hard surfaces and there are no dents or cracks. We especially like that it has the full scale.
